Thursday morning a brand new trailer for the next Matrix installation was shared on the movie’s official Instagram page and website.

The film’s December 22 release will come 18 years after The Matrix Revolutions, originally intended to be the final chapter in a trilogy documenting the transformation of computer hacker Thomas Anderson – played by Reeves – into cybercriminal Neo after he inadvertently discovers the ordinary world he inhabits is actually a simulated reality.

Stretching out the anticipation ahead of Thursday’s launch, fans were treated with an ad featuring red and blue pills sitting side by side beneath the stark message: ‘The choice is yours.’
