A new clip from The Expendables 4 features Jason Statham doing battle against Iku Uwais, who is best known for starring in The Raid. Directed by Scott Waugh, the upcoming sequel sees the titular team of action heroes embark on a mission to stop another world war. In addition to featuring the return of a number of familiar faces, the new movie will introduce several new characters, including Uwais as a villain.

Now, ahead of The Expendables 4’s release date, the IMDb Instagram account has shared a new clip from the movie, showing Statham and Uwais facing off. Check out the clip below:

Statham’s character has always had an affinity for knives in the franchise, and the latest clip features him putting his blade skills to work to retrieve a kill switch.

Jason Statham’s Expanded Expendables 4 Role Explained

In all three previous movies, Sylvester Stallone has led the eponymous action hero team as Barney Ross. Statham’s Lee Christmas has essentially served as second-in-command, but this is all set to change in the upcoming movie. The Expendables 4 will serve as Stallone’s final time playing Ross, with the film expected to pass the leadership torch to Statham.

As a result of this, Stallone is expected to have less screen time in the new installment compared to previous outings. Stallone completed his filming for the movie in a relatively short period of time, with the actor himself previously telling THR that “Statham is 80 percent of it”. The Expendables 4 trailers keep the full extent of Stallone’s role a mystery, but it does appear that he is absent for a major cargo ship set piece.

It remains to be seen whether the new sequel will be a hit with audiences, but if it is and another movie gets the green light, Statham will seemingly be taking center stage yet again. Although Stallone will be missed, The Expendables 4’s cast features a host of returning stars and newcomers alike that can make up for his reduced screen time, including the likes of Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Megan Fox, 50 Cent, Tony Jaa, and Andy Garcia, among others.
