Marvel movies and TV shows have done great over the last decade or so. But one franchise that is yet to receive such treatment from Marvel Studios is Fantastic Four.

However, that could change following the release of Fantastic Four in Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, the success of the movie will also depend on how amazing the cast of the movie will be.

Casting the right actors contributes a lot to the success or failure of a movie. Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman recently shared his confusion about picking the right person to play Doctor Doom in the 2025 movie.

The director said,

“The fact that there is so much debate, I love it. I have been thinking about who should play these characters before I had the job to direct the movie…Chemistry is super important…It’s Marvel’s first family. I have to get it right.”

And fans, no doubt, had a say in it.

Upon seeing Shakman’s about Fantastic Four casting, fans remain divided about Robert Downey Jr. or Henry Cavill being the perfect actors to play Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four movie.

Well, as of now, there is no confirmation about which actor will play the iconic villain role. In fact, Cillian Murphy is also in the mix for donning the Doctor Doom cape in the upcoming project.

Downey Jr. was rumored to play Doctor Doom in the 2005 film Fantastic Four, but Julian McMahon was ultimately cast for the role.

On the other hand, Cavill’s amazing portrayal of Superman simply makes him a fan favorite to play the iconic Marvel role.

In the comics, fans have always had a love-hate relationship with Doctor Doom’s character. After all, he has had many great battles with the Fantastic Four (and the Avengers). He remains one of the most formidable villains Marvel has to offer.

However, the rumor mill suggests that Doctor Doom may not appear as a full-fledged villain in the upcoming movie. The reason is that the Silver Surfer and Galactus are expected to be the primary villains of the movie.

For now, the anti-hero is only expected to play a small role in the movie. Marvel is probably saving a major role for Doctor Doom in Avengers: Secret Wars.

It will be a befitting end to Phase 6 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After all, since Endgame, MCU has made several attempts to bring back its immense popularity among the audience.
