Henry Cavill‘s final scene in The Witcher has left emotional fans in floods of tears.

An emotional show finale saw Cavill’s Geralt of Rivia and Anya Chalotra’s Yennifer of Vengerberg lose their precious Ciri – played by Freya Allen.

Fans of the Netflix series have been left even more devastated in the knowledge that Cavill, 40, will not be coming back as The Witcher, with Liam Hemsworth, 33, to be his replacement.

Viewers took to Twitter in their droves, having their say on the momentous end for Cavill, on the back of a less-than-promising start to season 3.

One said: ‘Yennifer calling Ciri her daughter was absolutely everything.’

As well as the moment between Yennifer and Ciri, one with Yennifer and Geralt after they realise that Ciri is lost brought particularly strong reactions out of viewers.

Many said that they were ‘crying’ in response to both scenes.

One said: ‘The moment when Yennefer goes to see Geralt and cries, it’s beautifully sad and painful.’

Another commented: ‘They’re so sad and blaming themselves, I can’t stop crying.’

Religious followers of the show will no doubt be relieved, however, that the second volume of season 3 was less of a ‘snoozefest’ than the first.

The ending is something of a cliffhanger, but most people are assuming that Cavill’s character does not survive.

This leaves the space for Hemsworth to succeed his predecessor as an entirely new Witcher.

Some were unfazed by the end despite tense end, with one saying they were ‘hungry for more.’

Bot others were more sceptical, especially given the change of lead.

One predicted: ‘Let’s see what Liam can do but not seeing Henry is gonna be hard.’

Someone else struck a similar tone a similar tone: ‘The Witcher is not gonna be the same without Henry Cavill. All the best Liam.’

Others were simply thankful towards Cavill, and regretting the fact that he is leaving the hit series.

‘Thank you, king #HenryCavill for your talent, dedication, and passion,’ said one fan, who described the former Superman as ‘the best, the greatest and the only #GeraltofRivia.’

Another fan followed a similar sentiment: ‘Thank you Henry for everything . You are the real witcher.’

Some were even pleading for Cavill’s return already, with a fan begging: ‘Henry is the best, please come back.’

With Hollywood actors and writers striking at the moment, it is unlikely the wheels will be put in motion for Hemsworth’s start as Cavill’s replacement any time soon.

So we will likely be waiting until at least 2025 to know if the Hunger Games actor will live up to the billing set by the first three seasons.
