  •  Thor 5 is rumored to be in the works, with Hercules expected to be the main antagonist and the debut of Balder the Brave as Thor’s half-sibling.
  •  The fan art of Thor with a new look and wielding both Mjolnir and Stormbreaker captures the tone of earlier Thor movies and could bring back the character’s success.
  •  Chris Hemsworth is contemplating saying goodbye to Thor, with Thor 5 potentially being the end of his chapter in the MCU.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has suffered many disappointments recently, in both terms of box office profitability and critical approval. One of the movies that led a huge swing in fan opinions was Thor: Love and Thunder, which arrived in 2022 and was expected to replicate the success of the previous collaboration between Chris Hemsworth and director Taika Waititi. But that didn’t go to plan. Now, it seems that Hemsworth will get one more solo movie, and a new piece of fan art has imagined what the God of Thunder’s reported final outing could look like.

Recently, it was rumored that plans for Thor 5 are being put in place, with Hemsworth’s hero expected to take on Hercules, as teased at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder. The same reports have claimed that the film will also see the debut of Balder the Brave, one of the missing half-siblings of Thor, who was most recently mentioned in the second season of Loki. Although it seems certain that Thor will put in an appearance in the upcoming Avengers movies, a lot of the character’s legacy could rest on his fifth movie. Check out the fan art below.

The fan-made poster by Hazzaa Jarrar, depicting Thor with a new look and dual-wielding Mjolnir and Stormbreaker, captures exactly what the mighty God of Thunder should look like. This darker and more grounded take would pivot from the overly-jokey Thor of Love and Thunder and bring things back to the earlier tone of Thor’s solo movies. However, Thor: The Dark World is one of the lowest rated MCU projects. In essence, Marvel Studios need to find a way to bring the character back to the success of Ragnarok.

Chris Hemsworth Seems Ready to Call Time on Thor

Thor and a smug-looking Loki in Thor

As one of the original Avengers to grace the MCU, Chris Hemsworth has become one of the biggest stars of the franchise – in all senses of the word. However, having once again bulked up to play Thor in Love and Thunder, his personal reflections on his tenure in the franchise have suggested that he is preparing to say goodbye to Thor in the near future.

Last year, Hemsworth revealed that due to genes passed down to him, he is up to 10 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease, and that has seen him contemplating where this leaves his future career. Hemsworth’s acknowledgment of the potential for Thor 5 to “close the book” on his chapter in the MCU is something that seems to be coming more and more likely, as seeing Thor depart the MCU in the culmination of the Multiverse Saga seems like the only viable way for him to leave his mark on the franchise just like Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans in Avengers: Endgame.

Of course, many fans still believe that Secret Wars will actually be the end of the road for both Thor and Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, who is currently the character holding together the unruly strands of the multiverse. If it is an emotional ending that fans are looking for, then their reunion is likely to be the only way for their stories to come to a conclusion.
