Keanu Reeves caused a stir when he went public with artist girlfriend Alexandra Lapp last year, after years of being cast as the lonely ‘Internet’s Boyfriend’.
Now in an interview with British Vogue, LA-based artist Alexandra, 46, revealed the ‘fascinating’ reaction they received to their debut as a couple at LACMA Art+Film Gala last November, after 10 years of friendship.
Fans were delighted the intensely private John Wick star had found love again after apparently remaining single for years following the death of his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Syme in a 2001 car crash, shortly after the couple’s daughter was stillborn.
However the unfortunate flipside of this refreshingly ‘normal’ pairing was criticism from trolls who claimed Alexandra was ‘too old’ for her beau, despite him being nine years her senior.
Here, in an extract from the interview shared with FEMAIL, which appears in full in the April issue, the artist explains how ‘every single person she knew called her’ following their debut and why she’s happy not to ‘fit in’

If you know Grant’s name already, chances are it’s because, at the beginning of November last year, the world finally twigged that he (Keanu Reeves) and Alexandra were an item – when they walked the red carpet of an LA art gala hand-in-hand.
Looking back on the hullabaloo, Grant offers a mix of earnest enthusiasm and deadpan wit.
‘I think every single person I knew called me in the first week of November, and that’s fascinating,’ she says wryly.
‘But the question I’ve been asking in all of this is: “What’s the opportunity for good?”‘
Depending on what news outlet you read, the reaction to Grant and Reeves’s public appearance stood somewhere between breathlessness and scorn.
Who was this woman who, at 46, had the temerity to be nearly the same age as Keanu? (He’s 55.) But can we allow ourselves of indiscreet concern?
After all, Reeves seemed perennially single, inspired ‘Sad Keanu’ memes and gained the nickname ‘The Internet’s Boyfriend’.
If you’re thinking it would take someone out of the ordinary to shatter this image, you’d be right.
‘I’m a 6ft 1in woman with white hair,’ says Grant brightly.
‘You know, the idea of fitting in… If I wanted to look like Kim Kardashian, I would have to have surgery removing about a foot off my legs.’
