Keanu Reeves has garnered praise for being a ‘gem of a person’ as a viral video of the actor helping crew carry equipment while filming John Wick 4 resurfaced online.

In the clip from 2021, the star is seen holding two boxes of items that he carries upstairs on the action film set.

Since it was posted by screenwriter Todd Spence and the new flick was released, the footage has racked up more than 10.2 million views and 73,000 likes.

Fans were impressed by Keanu lending a hand, describing him as a ‘gem’ and saying that there should be more individuals like him.

One wrote on Twitter: ‘That’s the reason why he is still called a gem of a person.’

Another said: ‘We need more people like Keanu’ while a third added: ‘Seriously, Keanu is an amazing, kind, gentle, great person.

‘The vast majority of celebs will just sit in their trailer and be waited on until their scene is ready.

‘He helps out, gives and does all he can above what any actor even in a Z-list film would be thanked for doing.’

Elsewhere, a separate person wrote: ‘People in the comments going off about how this should be the standard.

‘I worked in the film industry for a long time: it is not. Credit where credit is due. Keanu Reeves is doing a good thing.

‘Most A list celebs hide in their trailers waiting to see which PA will score drugs.’

However, not everyone was impressed by the video, with some fearing he was putting the production of the film at risk by helping out.

One person said: ‘Old people are always doing this s**t and then hurting themselves and someone else always gets blamed in the end.

‘Sit the f**k down grandpa. No one wanna get fired over your ass.’

Another penned: ‘Everyone: A sterling example counter to selfish Hollywood Ideals!’

‘Amateur production: Oh wow, I wish MY on-camera meat puppets did this!’

‘Producers: ‘Jesus f**k Keanu are you trying to tank this production?! Why am I getting a call from the attorneys at 3.30am?!’

And a third said: ‘Actors, please don’t do this lol’, unimpressed by his show of help.

It comes after Keanu said that John Wick is one of his favourite roles he’s ever played – even more than his roles in Speed and the Matrix franchise.

‘It’s a fun character to be able to have that, you know, that John Wick kinda thing,’ he said.

‘I mean, I think the film is really epic, and I love playing the role,’ he continued. ‘I love the John Wick world.’

The Point Break star also said it’s ‘cool’ and ‘kind’ for people to be referring to John Wick: Chapter 4 as one of the greatest action movies of all time.

Reeves has been playing the assassin since the first John Wick movie in 2014.

Playing John Wick requires ‘training before the training’ and ‘a John Wick toolbox’ according to Reeves.

Keanu noted that he works with the film’s stunt coordinator on the mix of ‘judo, jiu-jitsu and weapons manipulation,’ or gun fu, as it has come to be known.

Good Morning America’s Will Reeve asked him if he’s feeling his age when performing the complicated stunts the role requires.

‘I’m not quite there yet,’ he said, but the fourth John Wick movie ‘got me closer.’

‘I’m definitely feelin’ the age,’ he said, also explaining that he’s ‘more experienced’ and therefore ‘more efficient’ in tackling the action than he was when starting out.
