Water birth refers to the process of giving birth to a child in a pool of warm water. There’s a common belief that this leads to a more relaxed and less painful experience. However, the safety might still be an issue of concern. There’ve been cases of infections in the mother or the baby. Nevertheless, research is continually trying to overcome this.

This method of delivery is known to lower labor pain, while the warmth of the water creates a sedative effect. Also, the mother can attain a comfortable position while she’s giving birth. Moreover, the hormones which cause stress or anxiety usually see a dip in this method of childbirth.

Water birth reduces the risk of tearing as well. There are specific birth pools designed for water births.
